Now I realize this question is very strange and kind of random but I remember always having class pets in my classrooms. Whether it was a snake (yuck!) a hamster, guinea pig, etc. Do you all think that a pet could benefit the students and help teach them responsibility or do you think it would be a distraction and potentially harmful (if the animals don’t make it through the year)?
My personal experience was I volunteered to take home the guinea pig for the summer (without my parents permission…) and he ended up getting sick and never rejoining our class. I still loved him and I loved the responsibility of feeding Harry every morning and playing with him etc. (keep in mind I was in 7th grade!) Any of you have stories or an opinion!?
