Key Idea: Calendar Posted on March 27th, 2014 by

Today we talked about the idea of calendar and how to best utilize this time with students. I really do believe that the instructional time can be lengthened and more meaningful if calendar time is kept shorter and very intentional. I really agreed with Katrina’s words about developing math and doing more math activities outside of calendar time as a way to keep students learning the most! In our classroom’s calendar, there was a lot of repetition, although the students were able to do new songs here and there within the calendar activities. However, I agree with the idea of novelty and the popsicle stick idea of drawing out two activities to do rather than doing all of the same activities every single day for calendar time.
