Sir Harry Kroto at Nobel Conference 50 Posted on October 14th, 2014 by

One speaker that I really enjoyed at this years Nobel Conference was Sir Harry Kroto, and his speech on “How to Survive”. One quote that especially enjoyed from him is that “teachers should nurture the the ability of students to think for themselves so they don’t need to be lead.” We don’t want to teach students to just accept everything that they are told, we want students to learn how to question everything and learn new things through their own curiosity. “A teacher’s main role is the nurture the creative potential in every child”

the path to creativity is having no burdensPlay is one of the main ways that children learn. If they find themselves interested in something through

Sir Kroto also has a great sense of humor, and his whole lecture was very enjoyable to watch/listen to. For anyone who missed it, here is the link! http://youtu.be/zoeHulSatpo?list=PLHuAoPzfQhGEDY6JGOaKSOaDNs1HGYQVM

Thanks for sharing this Hannah. Just walked the talk online and really liked what he said about creativity. One quote in particular that I liked was that “a teacher’s main role is to nurture the creative nature of each child”. He then goes on to talk about discovery through play and how true creativity comes out when there is no burden of responsibility.
