Our elementary methods class went to Macalaster this past Saturday, for a teaching conference called “Geofest.” It was a ton of fun and I learned a lot about social studies that I hadn’t known before. My favorite part of Geofest was all of the free resources! We got maps, globes, books, etc. The first session is the session I remember the most about the peace corps. I have been interested in doing the peace corp after college or when I am retired from teaching. This was a great session because I learned a lot about what the peace corp does and how they make such a huge impact on the world. I would love to spend part of my life teaching in another country and helping others. In this session they also talked about bringing someone from the peace corp into the classroom to talk about his or hers experience and to share how they made a impact on the world. I would love to have a peace corp volunteer come speak in my classroom when I am a teacher.
