Discrimination

Thinking about what Gustavus has experienced in regard to discrimination, I know that no matter what grade I teach, the class will need to establish a list of social behaviors that are not acceptable in the classroom. Unfortunately, as we have seen at Gustavus, some students find their actions to be either justified or not […]

Shout out to our class! (Spring Break)

I hope that everyone has a fun and safe spring break! It’s going to be weird not seeing your faces for a week! For those who are going somewhere with sunshine remember to please wear sunscreen! Can’t wait to hear all about your amazing trips and times at home when we get back on campus! […]

Administrators Panel

I thought that the administrators panel was extremely insightful! They told us that the top three qualities that they are looking for in a candidate include: 1) Passion for student success 2) Collaborative (team work) 3) Life-long learners (reflection and improvement, always keeping up with standards and sharing them with students, etc) Other tips: -really […]

Bullying: A Rising Epidemic

Throughout the week I learned many important concepts and ideas that I will able to take into both student teaching and my own classroom. One of the most important ideas that I learned were ways to create fillers throughout the day. Mrs. […]

How political boundaries change with time

This would be an interesting resource to share with students, especially if you have them work on developing a spatial sense of Europe. I think it would reinforce the idea that political boundaries change over time.

So, we have had a longer weekend because of the Education Department retreat. What do you all do to relax? It’s nice to have something to take your mind off any stresses going on. Is your relaxing activity something you could modify to use in your classroom? Basically I am just curious.
