Social Studies Conference Posted on March 4th, 2014 by

At the Social Studies conference on Monday, I was able to attend many helpful and interesting sessions. The one that differed a little bit from the rest, and the one that was most relatable to me at this point in time was a discussion based session that was geared toward future elementary school teachers. This session was based off of pre-service teacher questions and questions/statements geared towads the pre-service teachers by the presenters. Throughout this session, the presenters talked about different strategies when it comes to interviewing, and talked more about entering the world of teaching and education. The imformation and topics that were discussed were all very relatable to me, as a pre-service teacher. It was helpful to get a professional opinion on what to say/not to say in interviews, and also another perspective on what to expect as a first year/beginning teacher.

This session was very beneficial to all pre-service teachers that attended I feel like because it gave us an idea what to expet when we get out of college and enter the “real world” of education. Overall, the entire conference was a wonderful experience and got me even more excited to become a teacher and see what my future holds! The resources that were given to us and the information presented to us was awesome.
