First everyone knows how much I loved Geofest and would love to go back anyday! The thing that really stuck out to me was the using ag in the classroom… I can’t stress enough how awesome and wonderful this is! I taught a kids’ garden program for 2 years and now I plan the sessions activities and the teachers will be teaching the students. You can use so many ag related topic in the classroom to help your students understand important science concepts along with just general concepts. The curriculum that is offered on the website that Sue Knot told us about has great resources and a great curriculum and they are all free! I highly recommend them! The great idea that she shared with us was passing out name card with exports that persons country produced to half the class the other half got names cards and it describe the product that was imported in to them. You had to find your partner and then locate your self on the map. This is a great social studies introduction to exports and imports and the importance of it.
